Job Description

Job Summary:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care, administering medications, and assisting in the implementation of care plans. Your primary goal will be to promote patients' well-being and help them achieve optimal health outcomes. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective patient care and act as a vital link between patients, their families, and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Provide direct care to patients, including administering medications, treatments, and documenting health status.

2. Assist registered nurses in the development and implementation of patient care plans.

3. Monitor and report changes in patients' conditions, including vital signs, symptoms, and progress.

4. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and ethical standards.

5. Educate patients and their families on healthcare procedures, disease management, and prevention.

6. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.

7. Assist with patient assessments, examinations, and diagnostic tests.

8. Perform basic nursing procedures, such as wound care, specimen collection, and catheter care.

9. Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, adhering to infection control protocols.

10. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during challenging times.

11. Adhere to professional standards, ethical practices, and applicable laws and regulations.

12. Participate in clinical research studies and quality improvement initiatives as needed.

13. Stay updated with the latest advancements in nursing practices and participate in continuing education opportunities.

14. Assist in the orientation and training of new healthcare team members.

15. Contribute to a positive work environment by actively promoting teamwork and professionalism.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Valid LPN license issued by the state licensing authority.

2. Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a diploma, associate degree, or equivalent.

3. Proven experience in providing direct patient care in various healthcare settings.

4. Strong knowledge of nursing principles, protocols, and practices.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

6. Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

7. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

8. Proficient in the use of medical equipment and computer systems.

9. Compassionate and caring nature, with a genuine desire to help others.

10. Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations and adapt to changing patient needs.

11. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

12. Knowledge of relevant healthcare laws, regulations, and ethical standards.

13. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.

14. Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred.

15. Ability to lift and move patients and stand for extended periods.
